18 months

So our Addie Mae is now a year and a half, where oh were has the time gone!!!  It has morphed into a beautiful collage of wonderful memories with each passing moment.  She has a vocabulary of over 100 words and seems to pick at least 1 new one up a day, she has been very receptive to learning new things.  As you may have seen in my previous post that she also seems to be taking in her "My Baby Can Read" very well.  She can recognize some of the animal words and a few action words on occasion she has read some words out loud so she is showing progress with them.  She is very active, loves playing and mimicking what we do.  She shows interest in her big girl bed, but we aren't pushing it quite yet.  She has used the potty when we brought her to it a number of times, but she is starting to come to us with out any prompting now.  My mom says that she will regress when the baby gets here, but if she is ready I don't see that it is beneficial to her development if we wait, just because there is a baby on the way.  So we are not prompting anymore, but if she comes to us, we are not stopping her.  Like always she is still just the happiest baby/big girl around, of course she does have her moments when those terrible twos take over, but really it is NOTHING like I had anticipated it to be and that is for the better.

We had our 18 month well visit on Monday this week and like usual we got a perfect report.  We also found out that most everything is just me, but everyone probably already knew that.  I worry like crazy and as Dr. Wiley said I pay a lot of attention to every little detail, guilty.  Addie is 33 inches tall and she weighs in at 23lbs.  So even if she doesn't grow any more(which she probably will) before her 2nd birthday she will probably be as tall as her daddy or maybe just an inch or two shorter, but she will definitely either way be taller than me.  Not that I would even care if she was short like me(because I find nothing wrong with it and actually have enjoyed not having to worry about being too tall), but maybe she can avoid any "short people" critisisim  that could possibly come her way in the future.  So like I was saying one more inch will put her at 5'7" which is model height, only God knows what our future holds though.  She wasn't able to get her Hep A shot because they were out, but she did get her seasonal/h1n1 flu shot and I am proud to say that my big girl didn't even flinch!  No whimper, no cry, you wouldn't have even known that anyone touched her!

So Happy 1 1/2 year birthday Addie Mae, you are the best!! Mommy and Daddy love you very much, you are such a blessing!!

Your Baby Can Read

Well it seems as though it is true, our baby can read!  Tonight we were all sitting in the den when a Time Warner Cable commercial came on the TV.  The first thing that popped up on the screen was "hi" at which point Addie says "hi!"  Really Chris and I were just as surprised, yet we were both sitting here and we both  witnessed our baby read.

Playing House

This is the most amazing Addie time yet!  She is so into pretending that it is more than entertaining for me to just sit there and watch.  She will make something to eat, feed it to all of her babies and stuffed animals then rock them and put them to bed.  She will sit in her bed and read them books then she will cover them up with a blanket and put them to sleep, all the while telling us shhhhh, night night.  I love it that she can think up all of this stuff on her own and she is so observant that she is constantly watching us and doing what we do.

Big Sister

So as many of you may already know by now our little Addie Mae is going to be a big sister in February!  We are very excited about this new arrival into our little family, God has blessed us beyond words.  I just don't really know what to say about everything thus far.  We are so elated, yet it still really hasn't hit us yet I believe, every once in a while I will think about all that is about to happen but in our day to day sometimes I forget that we are even expecting.

Addie does know that there is a baby in mommy's belly but doesn't understand exactly what that entails.  When we went for our initial OB visit, they did a sonogram so while we were waiting to see the Dr., Chris sent our parents a picture of the little bean.   Well my mom showed Addie the picture and told her what it was a picture of, since then every time Addie sees my mom's phone laying on the table she pics it up, brings it to her and asks to see the baby.  Boy does she love looking at that picture of the baby too, she will take the phone with her get up on the couch and sit there and just stare at it.  Almost studying the picture, she points to it and just gets so excited over the baby.

I am so amazed with this little girl and how she seems to be taking everything.  I know that she really doesn't understand that there is going to be another person living with us soon, but when I am not feeling well and laying on the couch, she is so good about taking care of me.  She will bring me her animals or fix me something to eat and feed it to me(pretend of course).  Sometimes she will even get her lovey and lay down on the couch and cuddle with me, that really helps me feel better more than anything else.

So some facts on the bean or more so an apple by now; due February 27, 2011(not a leap year), we are calling it Kazoo until we find out the sex (October 6th) and in case you aren't familiar who The Great Kazoo is, he is the little green alien that follows Fred Flintstone around.  We had our 15 week check up this past Wednesday and the doctor says that everything looks great!  My blood pressure was 90/60, I measured 14cm, the heartbeat sounded great, very strong, the doppler that she used was an old one so it didn't gauge the rate of the beat but she said with her experience  if she had to guess she would say it was around 145/150 and despite the 10 lbs that I have lost since finding out that I was pregnant she was more than happy with my weight.

Last year my cousin got into this sonography study for students at Wake Med. and she forwarded me the info, I called and got accepted in as well!!!  So on Wednesday next week should have some pictures to show everyone!!!  We are super excited, It's at Baptist Hospital so I will be scanned by the instructor and then each student after that so we should get lots of sweet little portraits!

Addie's Fan Club

This morning we went to IHOP for breakfast, enjoying our little family meal together before Daddy had to go to work.  Us 3 in our own little world, talking and playing and eating when all of a sudden this random waitress walks up and says " you know you have a fan club".  Chris and I were both slightly perplexed when I asked "I'm sorry?"  She said that the other girls were in the back talking about how everyone must go by this table and see this little girl "she is so cute".  So we smiled said thank you and she was on her way, a few minutes later a few other waitresses nonchalantly walked by, not waiting on anyone or carrying anything.  I said "so now for the rest of the meal we will know why all of these random people are just walking by our booth", "to catch a glimpse".  It however is not possible to see all of her wonder in just one pass by and I should know this through and through, for I am her biggest fan.
