3 years

There is no way that I could have imagined having this amazing girl of mine for 3 whole years, to love and watch grow into the smartest most beautiful of little(big) guuls.

There is so much that comes out of her mouth on a daily basis that we should really have a tape recorder going constantly, but here are some that stick out in my mind:

Sitting at the table while the girls were eating dinner, I was drawing on my phone.  Addie asked me to draw her, to draw her in white.  So I asked "what do you mean" as she repeated "draw me in white".  Again "Honey, I don't understand what you mean to draw you in white (because surely my 3 year old does not realize the difference yet especially being raised in a home that places no bearing on race)".  To that she responds as she holds out one arm while rubbing it with the other hand "look, my arm is white, draw me white."  So astounded I mumble to her father "where does she learn this stuff " and before he could respond Addie simply states " She learns this stuff in school."

Last week Chris and the girls were outside playing when Addie fell and scraped up one side of her face pretty badly,  she was fine, really more concerned about her knee(that wasn't even bleeding when her face was covered, but she wasn't looking in the mirror either).  About two days later she went to the bathroom to wash her hands and upon looking in the mirror she called my mom in there and says "(looking at herself)  something looks weird on the left side of my face"
*side note- nobody told her what side of her face the scratches were on and she was looking into the mirror meaning she not only correctly identified the side of her face that the booboo was on, but she flipped the mirror image correctly in her mind before speaking.

She informs everyone that gets near her little sister that "Cara is fragile".  I guess I have that instilled in her, what should I work on next?

So she bit her sister the other day....I don't know what has gotten into her lately,  Two's were definitely not terrible but Three's sure are trying!  When I got home for lunch and she told me what she had done, I was talking to her about how it isn't nice to bite anyone especially her little sister, she jumps right to " I promise I won't do it again."  Boy she has got me right where she wants me huh?

Lately she has been into hanging her own clothes up and she was doing just that one day while I was in her room with her.  She had a pile of hangers and she was trying to hang up her bathing suit.  Now the pile of hangers were the thick plastic ones that didn't have any hooks for small straps, but there was 1 hanger at the bottom of the pile that was from a store.  She pulled that one out from the bottom of the stack and started hanging her bathing suit on it.  When I asked why she chose that particular one she pointed to the crevices and said "because those don't have these."

These are things that amazing little genius of ours figures out on her own.  I am in awe over her vast knowledge.

She met Grandma at the door one morning and told her that she was "just a little shy".  Then that same day as Grandma was putting her to bed Addie informed her that she was "just a little girl but she didn't talk like one."

As we were waving by to Grandma the other day Addie(while waving) states " I hope she bees careful in her home"

She knows that we call girls ma'am and boys sir and refers to each now with out prompting. She is such a polite little girl (makes a mama proud). She puts her dishes in the sink when she is done with them, puts her drink back in the fridge after taking a sip and is even tall enough now that she will refill her water all by herself. She goes to the bathroom on her own and washes her hands when she is finished (making sure that the soap bubbles and she gets in between all of her fingers).
There is so much more and just not enough time or space to write it all down, these were just some highlights of our sweetest big girl.

At her 3 year well visit she had to get her finger pricked, she did so well, took a deep breath and just sat there and watched the rest of the time.  Only thing is, is that Addie does not like band-aids, so I had to hold her finger after until it stopped bleeding.  All of her blood work came back at great levels! She is 36 in tall and 31.4 lbs and just growing beautifully!

She can now pronounce all of her words properly which makes me sad to see my baby grow into such a big girl.  Sometimes I forget that I am even talking to a 3 yr old.
