Oh how time flies

I can't believe that just a month ago we were in the hospital aiding God in bringing this angel into our world. Addie has been everything we dreamed of and more! In these past few weeks she has grown so much! She stays up more during the day just looking around kicking and talking. She hasn't quite started making eye contact yet, but she can hold her head up like a champ. Booskers still couldn't care about her less, for the first 2 weeks he was more than depressed, and even stayed out all night a few nights but he is coming around especially since everything has calmed down. We have gotten more into a routine and he gets shown more love.

So in these past 4 weeks Addie had her first trip to Richmond to meet her great grandparents. Although I was more nervous than I have ever been , it was a great trip. Then we took a short trip to the beach. During that trip she went out to eat for the first time (Crab Legs, YUM!). She didn't get to go out onto the beach, but Daddy did while we sat in the car. He even wrote her name in the sand. We also took her to church for the first time, what a busy month we had!

On her 1 month birthday she smiled for the first time and I managed to catch it on camera, one of the many things I'm gonna miss being able to do when I go back to work. I can't wait until she smiles all the time, right now it is just every once in a while. I have found that she is a morning person just like her Daddy and I, so mornings are usually the easiest time to get her to show her personality. She hates having socks on or being covered up, so I think that she will be a summer girl like her parents also.

Oh this child, We love her so much!! I couldn't imagine our lives without her! You know how people say that children complicate things, or put strains on marriages, well since Addie came into our lives I believe that Chris and I have been even happier ( not that we weren't happy before, Addie just made everything a little better).

On Mother's Day we are going to have her dedicated, I am so excited!! She is gonna wear the gown that I wore when I was dedicated. This gown my Mom made especially for me for my dedication, so it is gonna be so meaningful to have her wear it. We have already vowed to raise Addie in a Christian home, and are constantly seeking God's guidance with how to bring her up, but we are excited to proclaim this publicly. I can already tell though that she will do great things for Christ!

She is such a strong willed child already, I can't wait to see what the next 18 years brings, but in no way do I want to speed up our time with her now. I still just can't believe that she isn't a newborn anymore. I know that it goes fast, it's not like that is all I hear all the time, from everyone...but it also feels like so much has happened that she should be older than 1 month. At our well visit, she weighed in at 8lbs 11oz and 21 1/2in long. So she has gained 1lb, and grown 1/2 an inch, which I am so very proud of, my mother on the other hand...I get the feeling that she thinks that I am not feeding her enough. I feed her when she is hungry you know, it's not like I'm starving her, but I'm not gonna stick a boob in her mouth just cause it's there either! Then again I don't know if she would be happy if she was 10lbs. Really though, she just worries as do I, but if the Doctor is happy I can't help but be happy as well.

Isn't it funny how everyone has an opinion, like we will go somewhere and Addie looks like me, but the next person we see she looks like Chris. How is it that she changes so much in a matter of hours?? Because I am pretty sure that Chris and I don't resemble each other in the least. LOL, or how so many things work so wonderfully, yeah maybe for your child, but I appreciate everyone wanting to help guide us in our first parenting endeavor, and I can't say that I wont try and give tips later on down the road. Some of the advice I do like, that it why I don't discourage any of it, because I never know what will be helpful to us, it is just funny.

What a month!

Sweet Adeline

Ok so most of you know by now that our Precious Addie Mae was born. March 25, 2009. At 9:56am the most beautiful angel on earth was placed in my arms for the first time ever. How could I have ever imagined that something so amazing could be given to me to keep. Chris and I are absolutely in Awe over this blessing that has been bestowed upon us. Wow God really knows what He is doing, not that I ever doubted Him, but if we have ever been reassured, it was at this particular moment in time and that moment will stand still in our hearts forever.

So here is how it all went down:

On Tuesday evening after returning home from dinner at my Sister-In-Law's house, I went to go take my shower to prepare for work the next day. I sat down on the toilet, did my business, but low and behold it didn't stop!!! I was shocked, not knowing what to do I called Chris...Well Chris being the smarty pants that he is, came back there expecting something dumb needless to say he didn't have much pep in his step to find out what I needed. I was like uh I think my water just broke, and he in disbelief asked if I had just peed well I said that I was already done and right at that moment more water started gushing out of me. He freaked, he was like oh my goodness, what are we gonna do, well I was just as freaked as him. I was, who knows how long from having a baby, I mean did he really expect me to be calm and collected and to be able to give HIM direction on what to do?? So I just started rattling things off that were in my head, things that I had been running through my head for weeks in preparation for this very moment, of course they were pretty much coming out all jumbled together. We were both going in circles, to think back on it now it was rather kinda funny, well actually I did stop to laugh during all the commotion a few times. Luckily I had our bags packed... One of the girls in our Sunday School class had sent me an e-mail a few weeks before with a list of things that she needed while she was in the hospital to have her son last year. What a life saver that was, so we were somewhat prepared. He called the Dr. I waddled back and forth with the water steady flowing down my legs getting everything put together to go out to the car, and then found a seat in the recliner (on a towel of course, a beach towel that is) having no contractions (or contraptions as Chris likes to call it) I turned on the TV. What else was I gonna do, it took the nurse FOREVER to call us back, I mean it wasn't like we were having a baby or anything... When she finally called back Chris had to answer all these protocol questions which I might add he was not very happy about, I won't tell how that conversation went...Just for her to come back and say it seems as though she is in labor and you should get to the hospital as soon as possible. WHAT are you kidding me I could have told you that!! So off we went...

Here is the irony to it all, weeks ago Chris' Grandma said straight up "she will be born on the 24th", well for months my mom has said she thought she would be born on the 25th (which is my cousin's little girl's birthday). So on my way home from work that evening I was on the phone talking to Chris and we were talking about how his Grandma was incorrect, then jokingly I said well she still has like 5hrs and some odd min. (little did I know). So I guess they were both kinda right. The whole way to the hospital I just kept laughing and saying "I can't believe your Grandma!" "I hold her fully responsible" not that I was unhappy at all!! Everything couldn't have worked out MORE perfectly!

So after almost 13hrs of labor this beautiful child was born, it was the most amazing 13hrs of my life, and the results well they were just phenomenal.
She weighed 7lbs 11oz, and was 21in long.
BTW Chris was the best coach ever! He was such a great support, he was thoughtful of my pain (I really think though that he was in pain along with me), he woke up numerous times during the night to check on me (with the drugs I was on, I was doing just fine, but it was the thought). When I started pushing, he was right there helping me, counting, talking me through every bit of it. Then when Addie came out he cut the umbilical cord, stayed right beside her while they cleaned her off, and weighed her. His daddy instincts kicked right in immediately and they have yet to cease. I think that Addie and I are two of the luckiest girls on earth, but then again is it really luck at all? (I think not)

So I would like for everyone to meet Adeline Maize...

33 weeks

Well today makes 33 weeks for us, I can't believe we have come this far!! So officially our little bundle's name will be Adeline Maize Hughes, or Addie Mae. So our little Addie will be here with us in just a matter of 7 weeks!! I can't believe it is so soon!! When I think of it I get really nervous because I really am not prepared. Chris finished painting the nursery last week, and got all of her furniture moved in, but there is still so much to do in there. So no pictures until it's finished.

We went 3 weeks ago and had our maternity pictures taken, it was so much fun!! The only thing bad about it all is that I can't wear my Wedding rings so I didn't have them on in the pics, and I would have loved to have. The Superbowl was cool too, we invited our Sunday School class over, there was only 2.5 couples that came, but it was real nice. Chris made his first ever attempt at chicken wings, would you believe they were actually good!! They were the biggest hit of the night. He is so wonderful, it's like hes doesn't have to try, but everything always turns out perfect, I love him so much!!

I am still here at North Patterson, and am afraid that I am just gonna be forgotten. It seems like I am at least gonna be here up until I go into labor. Which I really don't wanna do!! Well I really wanted to be back at Hanes Mall months ago, but I guess I am just taking one day at a time. So thankful that I have a job to go to every morning.

Chris I think is getting real nervous, I have our home page on our computer sat up to tell us how far along we are. Well he got on the computer the other day and just about fell out of the chair, see evidently google had reset itself and when it came up it was showing us at 37 weeks, and in the last box. He said "! WE ARE IN THE LAST BOX!!!" I said "no honey, it just reset, we are in the next to last box" . Well personally I don't think that answer was quite what he wanted either, but it was better than being in the last box. In all honesty though, he is just doing wonderful! I know I always brag on him, but really I have to left everyone know what a wonderful husband I have and what an amazing daddy Addie will have one day.

So we have already finished our breastfeeding class, and are going on our 3rd week of birthing class next week. It's pretty cool and so far Chris seems to be doing ok with the videos and all. Of Course it's a video, and not real life...

I was reading a few weeks ago, that it is good now to start not giving Booskers as much attention, to prepare him for what is to come. When I told Chris about that he picked Booskers up, and started loving on him. Then telling me that that was not gonna be possible, and we will just have to work together to take care of both of them. I wholeheartedly agree, just because Booskers isn't the baby anymore, doesn't mean we should give him any less attention, or love.

So in the last week, I have gotten so much attention over my belly. The Dr. says I'm measuring right on, yet everyone else with an opinion thinks it's a matter of days before I go. I have had people ask if I was having twins, if I am over due, I even had a lady guess that I was having a girl, then preceded to tell me it was because "girls steal your beauty". Keep your opinions to yourself!!!!! I don't go around guessing your age, because your boobs are sagging, and you have salt and pepper hair!!! I love my baby girl, and will be homely for her any day of the week.

Well enough about me...

Week 27

Well lets see, in week 25 I believe that yoda had her first case of the hiccups. It was kinda fun, she wasn't kicking but every few seconds she would jump. How sweet is she!!

Christmas for us was great! We had so many of them. When we got up Christmas morning we opened Santa gifts, boy we must have been really good this year. Of course I already have what I wanted. Last year I asked for a baby, and I guess that is just such a big present that it took a year to get it to me. Lets see I also got an awesome new camera to take many many pics of our littlest angel when she arrives (can't wait!!). Chris got some video games, and movies and stuff ( I don't think he was as good as me, lol...) No he has been wonderful, but earlier in the year he got a truck. That was supposed to be his Christmas present, but you can't hide those very well you know... Of course there is the Hughes tradition of munchkins on Christmas morning, and well lets just say me in the condition im in, I wasn't complaining. So we ate those while opening presents, then of course Chris had to play one of his video games. He did that while I took my shower. After we got everything cleaned up, we headed to the next stop...

Oh before that Sheetz was giving away free cofee all day long, so we made a pit stop first (I got decaf). Mama and Daddy's was next, when we got there we hung out for a while, then we ate GOOOOOOD. After which we opened more presents. We got allot of good stuff there too. Chris got a new bible, one that he has been wanting for a while, The new ESV it is supposed to be the word for word translation of the greek translation. I got some much needed maternity clothes, and some stuff for Yoda.

Then home we went. Our next Christmas wasn't until Sat. the 27th. On the Hanes side of the family (my Mom's side) we switch off every year as to which house we are having Christmas at. This year was our year. We had a blast! Chris and I really like entertaining, we just don't get around to it much. Of course I perfer just entertaining like family, and maybe some really close friends, but me being the way I am I have to make sure that I am in control of every situation. So we started with lunch, and I must say that I think we had more food then what we had on Christmas Day, weird huh? Well It doesn't matter which side of our family you go to Food is usually the key thing. Man that food was GOOOOD too. Then we opened MORE presents. We do Dirty Santa with that side, so it wasn't like a free for all or anything, but it was great fun. I did however get the cutest outfits from my cousin and her family for the baby. I can't wait to see what she looks like in them!! It was a great day altogether, food, games, gifts. Plus we got to reveal the newest addition to our house...Our NEW DECK.

Of course the new deck wasn't much of a surprise being that I ruined it prematurely. Ok so we got this awesome quote to build a deck onto the back of our house, this was including labor, matrials, and cutting a door. We just couldn't pass up the opportunity, especially since we had been talking about building a deck for sometime. So we put the balls in motion, and 2 days later we had finally accomplished our first real project on our house.

So we had agreed not to tell anyone, since Christmas was gonna be held at our house for both sides, and it was going pretty smoothly. Then Chris decided he was gonna allow me to get onto the internet late at night(BIG MISTAKE). I mean given yet again the pregnant state I am in (with not so many brain cells) and the hour being 9:30 or so, I really can't be blamed for what was to happen next.

So I was thinking about how I hadn't posted pics in a while to my myspace and facebook, so I decided to go ahead and do so. Since Im usually not in the mood to do all of that I figured I better go ahead while I was willing. I found the most adorable pics of the Booskers and couldn't help but to share them with everyone else, he is so sweet and all... Unfortunately he was on the deck. Well I would have gotten away with it if it wasn't for all of you people who are constantly on the internet harping into other peoples lives, to just happen by my page or what have you and see these pics. Then instead of leaving well enough alone you all had to start asking questions, making comments, and phone calls, oh the phone calls... Then I get blamed for it all!!! Well as you can clearly see I could not have been at fault here. SO needless to say well, Booskers was out of the bag.

Our Final, but not least Christmas celebration was this past weekend when Chris' parents came into town. So we did the munchkin thing again (Of course no problem here) gatherd around the tree for one last time until next year, or later on this year, and proceeded to open yep you got it even more gifts!!! I tell you we really hit the jackpot this year. I mean it is such a blessing to be able not only to spend the Christmas holiday with all of our family, but to be able to outwardly celebrate our savior's birth too. Hailey (our neice) was so much fun to watch, this year was her very first Christmas, she really liked the tissue paper the most, but next year will just be so entertaining to see her actually get into opening gifts and stuff. She got allot of cool stuff this year too, lets just say Jenny and Steve won't have to buy toys for quite a while. We aslo ate, played games, and just had a jolly ole time.

On New Years Eve we had our glucose screening test, that was fun, they starved me. But other than that it wasn't too bad. Everyone I had talked to with exception of like 2 people said that it was gonna be the worst stuff I ever drank, I didn't think it was so bad, tasted like kool-aid (fruit punch flavor). We heard the heartbeat again, and the Dr. said that everything sounded good. This past Monday we got the results back and all of my levels were good, so I don't have to go back for the second test YAY!(which is what I think everyone was thinking about when they told me the drink was so bad) So until next time...

Surprisingly enough Yoda and I stayed up until the ball dropped, while Daddy slept on the floor. I just new for sure I would be knocked out by 7:30, but I guess I just needed to bring in the year that I will become a Mommy all the way.

New Years Day is David's (Our Oldest Nephew) birthday, so every year we have the traditioinal, Ribs, Collards, and Pintos(Love it Love it Love it). We also go a bit further, because we have a brithday to celebrate. This year he turned 12, I can't believe he has gotten so old! I still remember the day he was born, just like it was yesterday. Of course that doesn't say much here lately. Boy I sound old, not cool! But seriously, he's gonna be driving in 3 years!!! EEEgad!!!!

So far in the past few weeks, Yoda has found my sciatic nerve, my bladder, and so many other nerves, as well as organs that I didn't know I had. I love it!! It couldn't be more exciting!!! One thing I will say though I probably would be ok if she backed off my colon a bit. But whatever makes her happy, makes me happy. So we did however reveal her name over the holiday to the family. I just don't think we are quite ready to fully let it out. We are still tossing things around, but stay tuned, it wont be long.

Last night I pre-registered with the hospital, that was exciting. So now it's final were gonna have a baby, and now we have a place to do so. In march we are gonna learn how to breastfeed, and in April we have a place to have her. All we need now is to learn how to have her, learn about where we are gonna have her, and um im not sure what else. But thats what's in the queue for now.

24 Weeks

Well 24 weeks has come, and is almost halfway over. Yoda is so active, whenever she hears her daddy, she starts jumping around. I wish I could see through my belly sometimes, all the funny movements she makes...
Still no luck with names, man this is really the most difficult decision. Today Chris was just reading the wall at work, and I am not gonna name our little girl Sanyo. Oh well, I'm sure in due time we will come across the perfect one. We are still trying to decide on how to decorate the nursery, that's not too much fun either.
So I signed up for breastfeeding classes tonight, I pretty excited about that... Their not until March, but we still have to sign up for birthing classes which will probably be in February sometime.
We have our gestational diabetes test on the 31st of December, wish us luck, for some reason I have a bad feeling that I am gonna have it.

Ok so this past week I was transferred to another branch, one that is on the absolute other side of town. Monday was horrible, I can't explain how bad it was, I cried all night, and all morning Tuesday. Tuesday was not so hot either, but Today I had a talk with my new manager and I am feeling allot better about the situation. So looks like, well hopefully, I should be going back to my branch in about 3 weeks. He also said that he would tell everyone in the branch that smokes to smoke outside, after I had expressed much concern over the fact that I am expecting, and almost the whole branch there smokes inside. So I am doing a little better, God is leading me to where I should be.

Well Christmas is next week, I am so excited !!! So I would like to wish everyone a Very Merry Christmas! May God bless you all with the Joys of the season as He has us.
