Week 27

Well lets see, in week 25 I believe that yoda had her first case of the hiccups. It was kinda fun, she wasn't kicking but every few seconds she would jump. How sweet is she!!

Christmas for us was great! We had so many of them. When we got up Christmas morning we opened Santa gifts, boy we must have been really good this year. Of course I already have what I wanted. Last year I asked for a baby, and I guess that is just such a big present that it took a year to get it to me. Lets see I also got an awesome new camera to take many many pics of our littlest angel when she arrives (can't wait!!). Chris got some video games, and movies and stuff ( I don't think he was as good as me, lol...) No he has been wonderful, but earlier in the year he got a truck. That was supposed to be his Christmas present, but you can't hide those very well you know... Of course there is the Hughes tradition of munchkins on Christmas morning, and well lets just say me in the condition im in, I wasn't complaining. So we ate those while opening presents, then of course Chris had to play one of his video games. He did that while I took my shower. After we got everything cleaned up, we headed to the next stop...

Oh before that Sheetz was giving away free cofee all day long, so we made a pit stop first (I got decaf). Mama and Daddy's was next, when we got there we hung out for a while, then we ate GOOOOOOD. After which we opened more presents. We got allot of good stuff there too. Chris got a new bible, one that he has been wanting for a while, The new ESV it is supposed to be the word for word translation of the greek translation. I got some much needed maternity clothes, and some stuff for Yoda.

Then home we went. Our next Christmas wasn't until Sat. the 27th. On the Hanes side of the family (my Mom's side) we switch off every year as to which house we are having Christmas at. This year was our year. We had a blast! Chris and I really like entertaining, we just don't get around to it much. Of course I perfer just entertaining like family, and maybe some really close friends, but me being the way I am I have to make sure that I am in control of every situation. So we started with lunch, and I must say that I think we had more food then what we had on Christmas Day, weird huh? Well It doesn't matter which side of our family you go to Food is usually the key thing. Man that food was GOOOOD too. Then we opened MORE presents. We do Dirty Santa with that side, so it wasn't like a free for all or anything, but it was great fun. I did however get the cutest outfits from my cousin and her family for the baby. I can't wait to see what she looks like in them!! It was a great day altogether, food, games, gifts. Plus we got to reveal the newest addition to our house...Our NEW DECK.

Of course the new deck wasn't much of a surprise being that I ruined it prematurely. Ok so we got this awesome quote to build a deck onto the back of our house, this was including labor, matrials, and cutting a door. We just couldn't pass up the opportunity, especially since we had been talking about building a deck for sometime. So we put the balls in motion, and 2 days later we had finally accomplished our first real project on our house.

So we had agreed not to tell anyone, since Christmas was gonna be held at our house for both sides, and it was going pretty smoothly. Then Chris decided he was gonna allow me to get onto the internet late at night(BIG MISTAKE). I mean given yet again the pregnant state I am in (with not so many brain cells) and the hour being 9:30 or so, I really can't be blamed for what was to happen next.

So I was thinking about how I hadn't posted pics in a while to my myspace and facebook, so I decided to go ahead and do so. Since Im usually not in the mood to do all of that I figured I better go ahead while I was willing. I found the most adorable pics of the Booskers and couldn't help but to share them with everyone else, he is so sweet and all... Unfortunately he was on the deck. Well I would have gotten away with it if it wasn't for all of you people who are constantly on the internet harping into other peoples lives, to just happen by my page or what have you and see these pics. Then instead of leaving well enough alone you all had to start asking questions, making comments, and phone calls, oh the phone calls... Then I get blamed for it all!!! Well as you can clearly see I could not have been at fault here. SO needless to say well, Booskers was out of the bag.

Our Final, but not least Christmas celebration was this past weekend when Chris' parents came into town. So we did the munchkin thing again (Of course no problem here) gatherd around the tree for one last time until next year, or later on this year, and proceeded to open yep you got it even more gifts!!! I tell you we really hit the jackpot this year. I mean it is such a blessing to be able not only to spend the Christmas holiday with all of our family, but to be able to outwardly celebrate our savior's birth too. Hailey (our neice) was so much fun to watch, this year was her very first Christmas, she really liked the tissue paper the most, but next year will just be so entertaining to see her actually get into opening gifts and stuff. She got allot of cool stuff this year too, lets just say Jenny and Steve won't have to buy toys for quite a while. We aslo ate, played games, and just had a jolly ole time.

On New Years Eve we had our glucose screening test, that was fun, they starved me. But other than that it wasn't too bad. Everyone I had talked to with exception of like 2 people said that it was gonna be the worst stuff I ever drank, I didn't think it was so bad, tasted like kool-aid (fruit punch flavor). We heard the heartbeat again, and the Dr. said that everything sounded good. This past Monday we got the results back and all of my levels were good, so I don't have to go back for the second test YAY!(which is what I think everyone was thinking about when they told me the drink was so bad) So until next time...

Surprisingly enough Yoda and I stayed up until the ball dropped, while Daddy slept on the floor. I just new for sure I would be knocked out by 7:30, but I guess I just needed to bring in the year that I will become a Mommy all the way.

New Years Day is David's (Our Oldest Nephew) birthday, so every year we have the traditioinal, Ribs, Collards, and Pintos(Love it Love it Love it). We also go a bit further, because we have a brithday to celebrate. This year he turned 12, I can't believe he has gotten so old! I still remember the day he was born, just like it was yesterday. Of course that doesn't say much here lately. Boy I sound old, not cool! But seriously, he's gonna be driving in 3 years!!! EEEgad!!!!

So far in the past few weeks, Yoda has found my sciatic nerve, my bladder, and so many other nerves, as well as organs that I didn't know I had. I love it!! It couldn't be more exciting!!! One thing I will say though I probably would be ok if she backed off my colon a bit. But whatever makes her happy, makes me happy. So we did however reveal her name over the holiday to the family. I just don't think we are quite ready to fully let it out. We are still tossing things around, but stay tuned, it wont be long.

Last night I pre-registered with the hospital, that was exciting. So now it's final were gonna have a baby, and now we have a place to do so. In march we are gonna learn how to breastfeed, and in April we have a place to have her. All we need now is to learn how to have her, learn about where we are gonna have her, and um im not sure what else. But thats what's in the queue for now.

24 Weeks

Well 24 weeks has come, and is almost halfway over. Yoda is so active, whenever she hears her daddy, she starts jumping around. I wish I could see through my belly sometimes, all the funny movements she makes...
Still no luck with names, man this is really the most difficult decision. Today Chris was just reading the wall at work, and I am not gonna name our little girl Sanyo. Oh well, I'm sure in due time we will come across the perfect one. We are still trying to decide on how to decorate the nursery, that's not too much fun either.
So I signed up for breastfeeding classes tonight, I pretty excited about that... Their not until March, but we still have to sign up for birthing classes which will probably be in February sometime.
We have our gestational diabetes test on the 31st of December, wish us luck, for some reason I have a bad feeling that I am gonna have it.

Ok so this past week I was transferred to another branch, one that is on the absolute other side of town. Monday was horrible, I can't explain how bad it was, I cried all night, and all morning Tuesday. Tuesday was not so hot either, but Today I had a talk with my new manager and I am feeling allot better about the situation. So looks like, well hopefully, I should be going back to my branch in about 3 weeks. He also said that he would tell everyone in the branch that smokes to smoke outside, after I had expressed much concern over the fact that I am expecting, and almost the whole branch there smokes inside. So I am doing a little better, God is leading me to where I should be.

Well Christmas is next week, I am so excited !!! So I would like to wish everyone a Very Merry Christmas! May God bless you all with the Joys of the season as He has us.

20 Weeks

So 20 weeks went pretty well for us, allot happened. For starters, Praise God that we have successfully made it half way through our pregnancy. Lets see at 18 weeks we found out that our little Yoda may not be a Jedi Knight after all. Well Chris says that girls can be Jedi's too, but we will have to see about that. Although this was a big adjustment for us, the thought is really growing on us. We are very excited to announce that we are in fact going to have a baby girl. So I guess everyone will just have to wait for that boy to break the chain. As many of you may well know how much I am NOT a pink person, I do have to admit it is growing on me. Now I do not plan on running out and buying a new wardrobe for myself, nor do I plan on turing into anything remotely close to a pink lover, but I will allow Yoda to have the choice for herself. Right now her bedroom is a green color, we have recently come to the conclusion that that is going to have to change, because it is just too dark for a baby. I don't think that either one of us is at the point yet that we would be willing to let her room go all pink, but we will definitely pick something that will suit this precious thing.

I think that last wee she hit a growth spurt, and I read that this coming week she should hit another one. It is so fun knowing that she is growing so much, in such a short time span. Her kicks are even getting stronger, I was at work the other day and I was in the middle of helping a member, and she kicked me so hard I had to stop talking. It is great!! I really feel for all those women who are just letting themselves be pregnant, and not taking in every bit of it. Yeah so what if I was sick as a dog for the first trimaster, who cares if I am gaining weight, or stretching even further. So I can never get comfortable, sleeping is more difficult, and I cry over anything and everything!!! I love it, I am aiding God in the creation of what He will allow to be my daughter for my time here on earth. What more could I ask for??? Bring on the tears, the weight, the pain, the joy of my heart!!!!

So here is the story of the week, Booskers was outside playing last Sunday morning. We had come home from church, to change clothes, and as we were heading out Booskers ran up onto the front porch. Chris looked and saw that he had chased this little chipmunk up there, and cornered him under some leaves. Well Chris picked Booskers up, and handed him to me. He said he was gonna try and get the chipmunk to run back into the woods. Being as motherly as I have been, and given how cute the little thing was I handed Booskers back to him and told him that I would get him back to the woods. So I reached down, and pet him a few times, Booskers had obviously been licking him, then I picked him up. I got all the way to the end of the porch, and he BIT me!!! Stupid chipmunk, he was no Dale like I had originally thought. So I threw him down, and went inside to wash my hands. Luckily he didn't break the skin, but after freaking my parents out, and a day and a half of calling doctors, and worrying about rabies, We came to the conclusion that I am gonna be fine. But the moral of this story is don't pick up wild animals, even if they are cute like Alvin.

Week 20 was great! Tune in next time for more fun times with the Hughes'....

Pregnancy

Well I must say that I am absolutely LOVING this being pregnant deal!! The connection between Yoda and I is already so tight, I can only imagine what it will be like when we finally meet face to face. We are so in love with this child. But back to being pregnant, OMG how wonderful it is, feeling Yoda move all around and react to things that happen around me. It is breath taking to hear the heartbeat, and to know that every move that he/she makes is all him/her. He/she has this personality like no one else.

I always thought that I would love being pregnant, and even after we lost Brighton(our 9wk miscarriage) I have said that I could be pregnant for longer than the 9/10 mths it takes for them to develop. Now that we are here again given another chance, yep it is even more exhilarating than I had thought it to be. I can't wait to see how it all pans out, but I am content in enjoying it while it lasts. I mean I really don't know who wouldn't love it, it is the most amazing feeling I have ever felt. It's really hard to explain, but the fact that this is exactly what I was created to do. God sure does know how to make things work huh.

Chris is so excited to be going through all of this, I never thought in a million years that I would have married such a wonderful man, one who loves this baby, and wants it as much as I do. We really have a great relationship, you know the kind where there are actually 2parts, and each 1/2 makes the other better. I don't know how much better I make him, but he always says that the reason God brought him to NC was to find me. He accentuates everything about me though, from my spirituality all the way down to the way I talk. Having a baby with him is gonna be so amazing! I love it when we are laying in bed and he puts his hand on my belly to see if Yoda is swimming around, or this morning when he kissed me goodbye, then pulled down the covers to kiss my belly and tell Yoda bye. He is gonna be the best daddy!!

We are just so grateful to have this opportunity that not everyone has, and the chance to feel what it is like moment for moment. Life is such a blessing, not something to be taken for granted, and I can honestly say that after this experience I will never do that again. Each day we live is a gift, everything we experience pulls together to make it just that. Good and bad, we wouldn't appreciate it as much if we didn't endure both. Thank you Lord for being so thoughtful.

The Blessing

Well I can't say that this is just one blessing, because Chris and I have been blessed more than we can count. However, the latest blessing that we have received is a doozie...Chris and I are going to be parents!! Evidently my body reacted very well to the fertility meds, resulting in conception the first go round. But we really know why we are pregnant right now and we don't think it has much of anything to do with the medicine.

At the end of July I had a consultation appointment with my Dr. to see how the Clomid was working for me. When I went in, the nurse asked me if I had taken a test and I informed her that I had on Day 23(If any of you have gone through TTC then you should know what that means)but it was neg. So she asked me if I wanted to take another one, well I told her I would, I didn't think it would be pos. but deep down I was hopeful(aren't we all though). As I sat back down on the table I just started praying...Few minutes later she popped her head in and asked if I had been on any progesterone, I had at the beginning of June, right before I started the Clomid. She said well congratulations(????!!!!!!)I was like WHAT!!!! She said your pregnant, and showed me the test!!!!! OMG I started bawling, then she started crying and she was like I gotta get out of here or I won't make it. So she bagged up my test and gave it to me. There wasn't much consultation needed after that, so when the Dr. came in he congratulated me(of course I'm still in shock here)and we set an appointment for our first OB visit.

God is so good. I mean we didn't expect to ever have kids after the diagnosis we had gotten, but we still had faith. I am convinced that our faith in our lord, and his awesome plan is why we were able to beat the odds. What a great pregnancy we have had too! I mean I was really sick during the first trimaster, but I loved every minute of it. I worry like it will never end, about everything, but God will protect us and whatever is meant to be will be. I mean He has never led us astray before, so we have no reason not to trust in Him.

We are 17 wks now, and Sunday night we felt little Yoda kick for the first time! Ok so I really feel like we are gonna have a girl, but neither Chris nor I want to call it one way or the other, so we have agreed to name it Yoda Snuffleupagus Hughes until we know what it will be. We find out the day after election day what we are having, that's only 8 days!!!

We have told just about everyone now, others that we haven't told I'm sure will hear it through the grapevine eventually. Sorry if we missed you, we didn't do it intentionally. Telling the family went well, some wasn't what we had anticipated, but hey what do you expect especially when we are not the first to have a baby. All in all we have had allot of fun telling everyone especially the fun ways we have told some.

Reunions and Timeshares

So this past Saturday was Chris' 10yr high school reunion, and although I had to drag him there kicking and screaming...well ok maybe he was right...So it really wasn't what I thought it would be. Well we got all dressed up( I thought we looked pretty good) and headed on. We were the first ones to arrive, then right behind us were two guys that Chris knew. He introduced me, and the first thing that one of the guy says is g.d. lets get drunk... Ok not my definition of a good time at all. So we halted basically and turned and went the other way. So after getting our pics taken we went into the banquet hall and found a seat at the table farthest from the bar.

As the night went on and people arrived, they seemed to engulf the bar, I believe that out of the 65 people that were there, there were probably only like 4 or 5 of us that were not drinking. Well we finally got to eat after waiting 1.5 hrs over what was supposed to be dinner time to get our food. At least the food was pretty good. Well the guy that ended up sitting next to me was pretty nice, and there was a couple there that go to the same church as Chris' parents, so Chris was talking to them on the other side. But as soon as we finished dinner, we politely got up, and left.

We went to Krispy Kreme and got a dozen doughnuts, went back to the house and straight to bed. Yeah we are old, but we're happy.

Sunday after church we went out to lunch with Chris' parents, and some others from church. Then we were on our way to the next stop.

See at the air show that we went to a few weeks back, we filled out a door prize slip, and ended up having our names drawn for a 3day 2night trip to Williamsburg, VA. Along with which came a $125 visa gift card and 2 tickets to Busch Gardens, all we had to do was listen to a 90 min. presentation. Yep that's all, and we get all of that!! Ok really... So we get to Williamsburg Sunday evening, and immediately hit the Christmas shops(if you don't know me well, I am a Christmas FREAK!!! The only reason I don't have my decorations up yet would be b/c I am deathly afraid of spiders, and my decorations are upstairs in the attic) We checked in, and went back out checking out the town. Monday morning was our appointment for our 1.5hrs. Next thing we knew it was 2.5 hrs later, and we were talking to our guides supervisor and she was "giving us better rates"...After declining yet again, our guide takes us back to the place we began only to walk into a room filled with more people and round tables...about 45 min. later we were leaving, exhausted and starving. No we did not buy a time share. We did get 2 free t-shirts, but wow those people were BRUTAL!!!!

Well all in all we had a great trip, it was so nice being able to relax just Chris and I. What a weekend we had!!
